Riku Rautsola, Ph.D.

is an entrepreneur, specialized in life sciences and healthcare. His experience covers the entire biopharmaceutical value chain as well as M&A and consulting. Holding a Ph.D. in Health Economics from the University of Munich, he quickly developed his career and is now a globally recognized life science business leader. With more than 25 years of success in managing key product portfolios, divisions and brands for organizations, ranging from chemical companies to consumer products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices as well as privately held biotechnology enterprises, Riku has in-depth management experience across Asia, Europe and North America. The areas of expertise he covers include research and development, operations, sales & marketing, business development and strategy, financing and financial management and brand development.

Birgit Bramlage, Ph.D.

After achieving her advanced degree in Biology at the University of Göttingen/Germany and completing her Ph. D., Birgit worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for Experimental Medicine as a postdoctoral. In 2000, Birgit decided to move on with her career and changed into the biopharmaceutical industry. There she worked several years in biotech with companies like Cosmix, Alnylam and Roche in the field of drug discovery and drug development. Being a scientific pioneer in RNA- and peptide-based therapeutic approaches, Birgit is inventor and co-inventor of 14 patents.

Birgit authored a number of scientific articles in prestigious international magazines and journals including a landmark article on RNAi in the journal Nature.

Today, Birgit specializes in strategic- and portfolio consulting in the field of biopharmaceutical technology and appraisals in addition to decisions at SCHILLINGER Digital Business Resources. Birgit also signs responsible for scientific and medical content and contributes to SCHILLINGER iEXPO.

Brigitte Höhn

has a solid scientific background based on her Iranian and Scandinavian Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin and her participation in various research projects.

Brigitte grew up in a family business in the printing- and publishing sector. From early on, she gathered experiences in all aspects of printing, setting, publishing and press work. In 2007, Brigitte joined the SCHILLINGER team working up her career from part-time clerk to general management. Today, she is not only in charge of the general management of SCHILLINGER, but also heads the departments mergers & acquisition, company consulting and SCHILLINGER iEXPO.

Sabine Rakestraw-Pirkl

In 1992, Sabine joined the SCHILLINGER team as a Translator and Secretary to the Management, after six years working successfully for the US Army. Her educational background of translations and her training as a med tech lab assistant combine Sabine’s passions for healthcare and communication. Her commitment and strong business drive are the groundwork for her current position as Director Project- and Event Management at SCHILLINGER Digital Business Resources GmbH.

Since 1999, Sabine has her own business in addition to her work at SCHILLINGER. Her company successfully specializes in marketing, sales and training in the medical and home healthcare field.

Sabine Rakestraw-Pirkl signs responsible for the SCHILLINGER iEXCHANGE Project Management. She is in charge of communications, marketing and content management.

Director IT and Development

Ralf J. Schlaefer

has worked on large internet- and software solutions highly successfully all throughout his career. He started out in 1983 programming applications on 68000 CPU systems for Apple and Atari ST/TT and developed one of the most successful user code extensions for the programming language Omikron Basic. Ralf published several books marking mile stones in the world of IT. Early on he worked for several well-known companies, providing his insight and expertise to invent and improve process control systems, programs for analysis and quality assurance (DIN ISO 9001). Ralf complemented his skills with avocational studies in automatization and data processing, a degree that paved way for his future career. Starting 1991, Ralf specialized in internet applications, programming for example:

  • Banking software Change-Online.de, an exchange for companies looking for a successor in Germany, initiated by the German Ministry of Economics – www.nexxt-change.org.
  • www.goisrael.de, Internet portal of the Israeli Tourist Office.
  • Springer-Verlag Heidelberg (large publishing house), development of the ONLINE further education certification for physicians [Continuing Medical Education (CME)]

In 2003, Ralf decided to open his own company, working for many well-known companies. One of them was SCHILLINGER (BDU), where he programmed the known World Directory MEDICAL DISTRIBUTORS. 2013 he finally joined the SCHILLINGER team to focus fully on the world of virtual consulting. His latest master piece is the SCHILLINGER iEXPO. His expertise was crowned with two of the most important rewards Germany has to offer: Innovation Reward 2007 for “Online Marketing” and “Content Management” honored by the “Initiative Mittelstand” (initiative of medium-sized companies of Germany).
